Sweety Desai
Staff Physical Therapist

Sweety received her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Srinivas College of physiotherapy, Mangalore, India in Feb 2008. She has attended various Physical Therapy lectures and conferences and has taken various Physical Therapy certificate courses while in Mangalore, India. Sweety did a 6 months internship at Dr. Balabhai Nanavati hospital in Mumbai, India. At Nanavati Hospital, she was exposed to various areas of Physical Therapy practice, including Orthopedic, Neurological, and Cardio-thoracic conditions. She also got hands-on experience working in ICU, NICU, and RICU. Sweety worked with Pediatric and Geriatric groups during this time, and utilized skilled manual and mobilization techniques to improve patient outcomes. She provided home-based care in India, from Feb 2008 to Aug 2008, and was able to see various Neurological and Orthopedic cases in the home setting.

Sweet has been a full time Physical Therapist with ProHealth PT OT since 2009, and primarily sees patients at home to meet and exceed therapy goals.

Steve Ko, DPT
Staff Physical Therapist

Steve Ko graduated from the New York Medical College with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.   He has been working with adult orthopaedic and geriatric population in various settings.  Steve’s experiences include treating patients with joint replacements, amputations, cardiac/pulmonary issues, falls risk, and general deconditioning, among others.  Steve has also been working with children with various diagnoses, commonly categorized under the umbrella term "multiply handicapped".  Included in this diagnostic group are children with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and other neurologic impairments, all coupled with orthopaedic issues requiring skilled therapeutic management.  Steve has come across many patients, and touched many lives to help improve and regain their functional abilities.  He has been with the ProHealth & Fitness family since April of 2008.

Maria Abarca
Staff Physical Therapist

Maria Abarca graduated a degree of Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1998. She stayed in her native Philippines for 2 years before going to Saudi Arabia in 2001 where she worked in a private acute setting hospital.   After 3 years she  transferred to American Hospital-Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where she worked under Dr. Sam Tarabichi at the Center of Excellence for Total Joint Replacement, where an artificial knee with full flexion capability was being used. This is of significance and relevance to the lifestyles of Muslims at time of praying, where kneeling and increased knee flexion is required.  In 2008 Maria moved to the United States where she has been working in outpatient settings in New York.  Maria has pursued continuing education courses in Maitland manual manipulation, trigger point and myofascial techniques , as well as different symposiums leading to a certification in Senior Strength training.

Caritia Orozco
Staff Physical Therapist

Caritia graduated from Sage Graduate School in upstate NY with her doctorate in physical therapy in May 2011 and has been with ProHealth since September 2011. She has clinical experience in acute care, outpatient, and spinal cord injury. Caritia has worked in an outpatient physical therapy clinic for over a year, as well as in a skilled nursing facility for 3 years. While at Sage, Caritia was hired to work as a graduate assistant at Disability Services, in order to help students with disabilities adjust to academic demands of college. She has presented research related to fall risk in older adults under various lighting conditions including LED lighting to evaluate the benefit in balance in different personal living environments. Caritia became interested in physical therapy after personal experience with rehab due to a soccer injury, and realizing what it can do for people. She is excited to be a part of the physical therapy field now and help others with their rehabilitation needs.

Rob Lin
Staff Physical Therapist

Raised in San Francisco, CA, Robert moved to New York to pursue his future as a physical therapist.  He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from NYU in August 2011 and also holds the esteemed Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Robert has experience working as a personal trainer for a wide range of people; from those seeking weight loss and fitness to athletes seeking improved performance in their respective sport, and utilizes this experience working with his patients at ProHealth.  In his free time he enjoys venturing outdoors and absorbing the cosmic rays.

Kelly Hernandez
Staff Physical Therapist

Kelly received her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Touro College in January of 2009. Her undergraduate background include a Bachelor's of Science in Health Science and a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology. She worked previously at the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale in the Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care Units, Where she gained vast knowledge and experience with the elderly and geriatric patient population.  Kelly has worked for ProHealth and Fitness since June 2011 and primarily sees patients in the company's main office and at Red Oaks Senior Center in Manhattan's UWS. Kelly is fluent in English and Spanish and believes one’s physical well being is related to ones mental well being in accomplishing therapy goals and genuinely enjoys helping others.
