Dr. James Nussbaum
James Nussbaum, PT, PhD, SCS, EMT is the Clinical and Research Director of ProHealth & Fitness PT OT, a physical and occupational therapy organization in New York. He founded the organization in 2000 in an effort to provide skilled rehabilitation services to patients with all levels of abilities. His career was fueled by his experiences as a physical therapy patient as well as his time working for Johnson and Johnson as a health and fitness specialist. James returned to school after working at J & J and graduated from Touro College with a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy, later earned a PhD in Pathokinesiology, and then received board certification as a Sports Certification Specialist. James sits on numerous clinical and academic advisory boards including the Charcot Marie Tooth Association, Touro College’s Physical Therapy Program, serves as the Co-Director of Research at TRIARQ, and is an active member of the NYS Task Force on Fall Prevention. He currently is a clinical instructor for numerous Physical Therapy schools, and teaches biomechanics and kinesiology at Yeshiva University’s Stern College. James’ clinical and research focus has been on the effects of innovative therapy interventions in medically complex patient populations. He has numerous ongoing IRB clinical trials, collaborating with many NYC physicians, hospitals, and agencies. James has lectured and presented his research around the world, and has a particular interest in finding ways to enhance and document patient improvements in activities of daily living, mobility, balance, function, and most importantly quality of life.
Dr. Ralph Garcia
Dr. Garcia has worked for ProHealth and Fitness since May 2008. He previously worked at the Rusk Institute and Presbyterian Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In 1997, Dr. Garcia obtained his PhD in Pathokinesiology from New York University. Dr. Garcia is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Touro College.
Dalia has worked at ProHealth since 2013. Dalia graduated as president of her class in NYU with an MS in Occupational Therapy in 2010. While in school, Dalia’s focus was on hand therapy and upper extremity injuries/diagnoses, doing additional internships at hand specialty practices including Hospital for Special Surgery’s outpatient hands clinic, Mt. Sinai Medical Center’s inpatient rehab and NYU’s Hospital for Joint Diseases MS center. Dalia spent 3 years working at Montefiore Medical Center where she developed her professional skills treating patients in acute care, inpatient, and outpatient rehab settings with patients of varying medical conditions including neurological, orthopedic, vascular, and traumatic conditions.
Shelley has worked at Prohealth since 2012. She studied physical therapy in Dunedin, New Zealand and graduated in 2003. Since then she has worked in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. Shelley began working at ProHealth in 2012. She believes strongly in ongoing education and has continued to develop her practice through formal and informal training. Due to her varied working environments and experience, Shelley has an eclectic treatment approach that she uses to enable clients to achieve their therapy goals.
Reema has worked at ProHealth since 2013. Prior to joining Prohealth, she was a Senior Physical Therapy and Assistant Facility Manager at Sports Physical Therapy of New York, as well as part of the Academic Research team at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Reema is certified in the Graston Technique and is currently pursuing her Manual Therapy and Pelvic Floor rehabilitation certifications.
Mr. Wurzel, has worked for ProHealth and Fitness since June 2006. He is responsible for all financial and administrative operations for the organization. Mr. Wurzel has been a CPA since 1994 and worked previously at Deloitte, as an audit manager and then as the Chief Accounting Officer of a private company based in New York City.
Mrs. Rudenko has worked for ProHealth and Fitness since 2009. As office manager, Mrs. Rudenko oversees the administrative staff at all locations and sites. Mrs. Rudenko worked previously as a cost accountant in a private company based in New York City.
Fiona Leung has been working for ProHealth and Fitness since 2012. As our front desk manager, she is responsible for the supervision of 180 West End Avenue administrative staff as well as verification and authorizations. Previously, she had worked at another physical therapy company based in Manhattan.
